The next couple of posts are of some terrific summer shows I saw in New York. The first is from the Jenny Saville show Ancestors at Gagosian. Saville has turned her figurative work toward classical sculpture, revisiting archetypes from religion and mythology in her loose and delicious painterly style. Carl Swanson has a great interview with Saville in which they discuss motherhood, painting flesh and source materials. You can read here.
